Pepsi Foods' 7UP, the brand whose mascot is the super cool, fun, trendy whacky and animated "Fido Dido" has announced its 'Create a Comic' Contest for youth and young adults aged 16-29.

This is a brilliant example of the current trend where popular Brands in India that use unique marketing strategies to connect with the youth are courting with the "Animation" "Comics" "Gaming" genre. And that's good news for a creative industry like ours.

Thanks to Fido, 7UP's connection to animation has been long standing and steady and this Comics contest is yet another creative and imaginative approach to connect with consumers.

Participants are required to complete an unfinished comic strip which has to have a humorous end. The contest which is a collaborative effort between 7UP and Web Chutney began recently and will continue till 15th of August, '07. One can participate in the contest by logging onto www.7up.in

Speaking to AnimationXpress.com Nureen Faiza, Account Manager at Web Chutney shared, "7UP's latest punch line is "Milega Green Signal" prodding people to think of a fresh and refreshing thought for every situation. This punch line helped us create this contest as participants need to have a smart and whacky idea for the comic strip. We have has also created the website, www.7up.in which took around one and a half month to complete with close to five people working on it while the 'Create a Comic' page took around ten days.”

Jury members on the panel to select the winners will comprise of members from the 7UP and Web Chutney team.

A spokesperson from 7UP shared, "The create a Comic contest is an online consumer promotion and is initiated through prominent online portals such as Rediff, Sify, Indiatimes, Yahoo, Google, Bangalorelive and social networking websites"

Winners of the contest have a lot of goodies in store for them which are sponsored by Pepsi Foods. The whackiest comic will win a Play station 3 while the second prize is an I Pod Shuffle and not to forget the 50 consolation prizes which are cool 7UP T-shirts & Bags. "Anyone other than the company and its partner agency' employees can participate in the contest. A person is free to participate as many times he/she wishes to," concluded the Pepsi spokesperson.
